Intensive Outpatient Family Therapy

Intensive Outpatient Family Therapy provides family focused, strength-based therapy for those needing more intensive treatment than outpatient services can provide.

Intensive outpatient family services are for those who:

  • Are at risk of out-of-home placement; or
  • Have been referred for intensive in-home services and await those services; or
  • Are being discharged from intensive in-home services to intensive outpatient therapy; or
  • Are involved with Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and need intensive outpatient treatment

Specific Services:

  • Individual and strategic family therapy (weekly or more often, as needed, at the Gloucester Counseling Center, Warsaw Counseling, or the Youth and Family Services office in Saluda, VA).
  • Crisis intervention (weekly or 24/7, as needed).
  • Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) and/or Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings (as needed).

Referrals and Funding:

Referrals come from the current outpatient therapist, court services, Department of Social Services, or the county FAPT.

Cost of service may be covered through Medicaid, third party payers (health insurance), Comprehensive Services Act (CSA) funds, or private payment on a sliding fee scale.
