RISP Bilingual Infant Educator/Service Coordinator, Anno. # 10-14
Location: Office in Urbanna, VA, but services are primarily home-based throughout the region.
Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, employee is responsible for implementing home-based early intervention services in the MP-NN CSB catchment area for infants and toddlers with, or at-risk for, developmental delays, primarily in families who speak Spanish and are not fluent in English. Employee is responsible for identifying infants and toddlers in need of intervention services and helping to implement individualized family service plans. Employee is also responsible for providing support and advocacy to families and care givers; ensuring that families are connected with a variety of needed therapies, services and resources; and coordinating those services. Employee is responsible for translating information from other service providers in order to help implement child’s IFSP. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, children, families, public, and service providers. Reports to the RISP Director.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Masters Degree in early childhood, social work, nursing, special education, or related field preferred. Employee must meet highest entry-level standard in one of the disciplines designated in Part C of IDEA; 1 to 2 years experience in the provision of early childhood and/or family services. Must be fluent in oral and written Spanish.
Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority. Must possess certification in First Aid and Child and Infant CPR.
