Admission Criteria

To qualify for services, a person must:
- reside in one of ten counties within the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck, which includes Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland Counties.
- have an intellectual disability as defined in the Code of Virginia:
Substantial sub-average general intellectual functioning which originates during the developmental period and is associated with impairment in adaptive behavior
Children under six-years of age may qualify if:
- there is documented evidence of cognitive and adaptive developmental delay, or
- there is presence of a syndrome typically associated with intellectual disability.
Those with intellectual disability and children under six years of age who are at developmental risk and are receiving Home and Community-Based Waiver services must also be receiving Case Management services during the months that Home and Community-Based Waiver services are received.
